The fresh start of Spring

The beginning of March for me marks the beginning of my second trimester with baby #2. I am so thankful to have made it out of the first and am anxiously awaiting the improvement in energy and sickness. This past week seemed to be the hardest yet so I am looking forward to the change that the second trimester will bring.

Much thanks to Jonathan's parents, we are settled in our new home! Jonathan spent a week painting every wall and refinishing the floors then we spent the rainiest day of the year moving all our furniture and boxes over. Jonathan and Maria arrived a few days later just in time to hang things on the wall and unpack the multiple bags and boxes stored in the garage. With things comfortably left in their and my husband's hands, I left town for a solo trip to Atlanta for my cousin's wedding. To spend a flight with no sippy cup or pacifier was quite a change, but one I adjusted to quickly nonetheless. I had a great time with family celebrating the wedding and came home to a house filled with decorating and love!

Since then, we have been putting the finishing touches on the house, fending off the last bouts of morning sickness, and keeping Anna Kate busy with her toddling and exploring. Today our new refrigerator will arrive along with our friends visiting from Boston. They have a daughter just about Anna's age so we are looking forward to the girls spending the week together!

Sorry for the long break from blogging...I hope to do better with the fresh start of spring :)

Welcome Home!

Yesterday Jonathan and I officially became homeowners as we closed on our new home! This has been a journey of several months for us that began when we first saw the "for sale" sign go up on this house only a few blocks from our current home. We put a bid on it, got turned down, got another opportunity, waited a long time, then finally got the good news that we were accepted. A month long escrow later we got the keys!

Jonathan was more than pleased to yank that "for sale" sign out of the yard even in the freezing cold darkness of last night.

Anna Kate checks out her new home....seems like lots of exploring is in store.

We are so thankful for our new home that God has blessed us with. Please pray for us as we begin the moving process with one pregnant mom and a toddler running full speed ahead!

Praise the Lord!

We got the opportunity to host a team from Waco this past week as they spent time experiencing the lives of US church planters. Each of them plans to plant a church in the US as well so it was a very hands on learning experience. The most fun part for me was having five fun gals to hang out with and love on all week. Most are mommies themselves so they were so much fun to swap stories and spend time with. They also totally understood my pregnancy ups and downs...always a plus!

One of the sweet gals who spent some time with Anna Kate taught her how to "praise the Lord". Anna will lift her hands up in the air and smile really big when asked to praise the Lord. It is too cute and so sweet that Anna Kate is already learning these fundamentals of life. I love it!

We got a big reason to praise the Lord today! As many of you know, Anna Kate was born with some problems with her kidneys. We have never had to have surgery or anything, but the doctors have kept an eye on them since birth. Today she had another ultrasound and got a completely healthy report. Her kidneys are just fine and normal! Praise the Lord! We definitely believe God healed her and we are so thankful. Thank you for praying for her and believing with us!

As for baby #2, it is 9 weeks into its little life today. He or she is definitely making his presence known by giving my body a rough entry into this pregnancy. Mornings have gotten a lot better, but afternoons and evenings are still pretty challenging. In three weeks, I will be out of the first trimester so I am looking forward to a little rest from the intense symptoms of early pregnancy. Regardless, we are so thankful for this little one and we know it will be a happy and healthy addition to our San Diego family.
