Anna Kate seems to have a little teething trouble every now and then, so I am always on the lookout for a new solution to provide her with some relief. One big hit for her is sucking on an ice cube that I hold up to her mouth. I think the coldness helps her gums feel better. However, this process is messy and usually very wet! So I came up with a genius plan...make ice popsicles! I got a popsicle mold from Target and filled it with water. And Voila...Ice Popsicles. I just hold the popsicle and she sucks away to her heart's content.
Anna Kate also started eating peaches today. Like her dad, she loved that peachy taste and kept opening her mouth for more. It seems she is a big fruit eater now conquering peaches, pears, prunes, applesauce, and bananas. She still loves her veggies too with the exception at times of peas...but I don't blame her a bit.

We Are All Peoples Church Video
We put together a 1-minute video that shows some of the faces and the heart behind who we want to be as All Peoples Church.

Heat Wave!
Our usually lovely San Diego weather turned very warm the past couple of days with highs reaching the upper 80s. You Texans are probably shaking your heads thinking...that's no heat wave! But consider these temps with no AC in your house...now that's hot! San Diegans rarely need air conditioning so most of the homes (including ours) were built without it. We don't miss it until we hit the 10 days a year of intense heat. So in order to beat the heat, we headed down to the beach for most of the weekend. Anna Kate got her very first swimsuit, so she was ready to ride some waves. However, the still icy cold ocean water deterred her from an actual swim. So she sat under the umbrella with some friends while Mom and Dad took a dip. The first swim of the summer!
Once the work week started, we were back to the greenhouse that we call home. So we turned on the fans, covered some windows, and opened others. I refused to turn on the oven and grilled out for several meals. Anna Kate gave up her crib in the corner in favor of sleeping on the guest bed under the fan...surrounded by a barricade of pillows. When the afternoon heat rose, we escaped to the cool temps of Trader Joe's, Sam's, and the grocery store. On our way home, Anna Kate fell asleep in the comfy car and I pulled into the shady garage. Not wanting to disrupt her sleep or enter our sauna-like house, I sat in the car with the AC blowing until Jonathan came out to investigate our automotive activity. I debated one night actually sleeping outside as it cools off at night faster than our house does. Several days later, weather.com provided the news I was waiting for. Highs of 77 today and even lower the rest of the week. What a relief!
Here's a shout out and encouragement to those of you who live in hot locals with no AC! You are troopers...hang in there! As for me, I am thankful for our respite from the heat wave.
